Life's a Beach.

It's raining in New York this evening, and I am feeling slightly nostalgic for the beautiful weather my roommates and I enjoyed over the Labor Day weekend in Long Branch, New Jersey.

Our beach trip began in Penn Station early last Saturday morning. Dragging ourselves out of bed early was nothing compared to dragging our luggage through the bustling train station. With all of our personal luggage, it was a wonder we didn't miss the train completely!

We arrived in Long Branch, New Jersey only to find that the overcast skies from the city had followed us south. Despite the slight damper in our spirits, we wasted no time dropping our bags off at the Ocean Court Motel and heading to the ocean. By late afternoon, the skies had cleared considerably and we spent the evening enjoying the early September sunshine.

Sunday and Monday passed in the same fashion-- basking in the waning summer sunshine on the beach all day, and eating out every night at the darling collection of restaurants in Pier Village. We laughed together. We ate gellato together. We split salads and enjoyed pizza slices. We browsed in a local bookstore, and shared magazines on the beach. In short, we enjoyed not only the beautiful weather but each other's company.

They say all good things must come to an end. But what do "they" know anyway? because Monday evening, we boarded the train together in Long Branch, and we brought a good thing all the way back to New York City.

Hi Em, your weekend reminds me of the ones I have enjoyed with Sue, Jane and Brenda for 15 years. Traveling with 4 dear friends is perfect and the memories never stop as long you are together! The best part is you are starting earlier than I did and these times will only enrich your life more. lots of love, mom
