come, fall, come

last night i was laying in bed listening to a voicemail from big sister.
she is back home in md for the weekend.
i am incredibly sad that the entire family gets to be together while i am stuck out here in ca.

but as she was talking, and mind you she had been waiting for a long time at the bus stop for little brother to pick her up, she was describing the crisp chill in the air. i could have sworn i felt it myself, until i realized the ac in my room was set to 65.
i told her awhile ago that i was going to make her a list of my favorite fall memories.

-going to butler's orchard the day after thanksgiving to cut down our tree
-red noses and cold breath
-jumping into huge piles of just raked leaves
-watching the trees change colors
-spiced cider or lattes at starbucks
-snuggling into warm sheets
-carving pumpkins
-eating candied caramel apples
-back to school shopping at staples
-scarves, sweaters, boots, tights and vests

and speaking of the last one, big sister and i found out that we both bought sweater dresses in the last week.

although her purchase is more reasonable.
seeing how fall has yet to come to california...

i can still hope.
