"Should auld acquaintance be forgot,And never brought to mind ?Should auld acquaintance be forgot,And days o' lang syne ?
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !And gie's a hand o’ thine !And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,For auld lang syne."

2008:
big sister moved to the big apple and left me in sunny la.
where i bought my first pair of converse
and started my senior year of college.
one of my dearest friends married a boy she loves
and they taught me about marriage and commitment.
i went on a summer program that turned my world upside down.
which led to long talks with wise women
who are helping me understand that the "flawed" me, is lovely.
2 old roommates graduated from college
and started life in the real world; traveling, working, loving.
i chased fires in california,
danced with brother at spring banquet,
made new friends,
said goodbye to old ones,
bought my first tiny christmas tree,
had a photo shoot with an art student,
swam in the pacific ocean,
talked on the beach by firelight,
dressed up and danced,
took road trips with younger brother,
visited troops from iraq with mother,
cried,
waited,
learned,
loved,
lived.
little brother thinks new years resolutions are stupid. his words.
but to me the new year is a time to revise the wish lists and rewrite the dream sheets that were written a year earlier.

january 1st is that limbo between the mourning of another year under our belt and the celebration of a new year to experience.
a few things to happen in 2009: (dreams, not resolutions!)
-graduate from college!
-visit big sister in the big city.
-ride my bike.
-ride my bike.
-travel to a place that i have never been before.
-read a classic book that is older than i am.
-tell my family how much i love them. weekly.
-perhaps learn french? ne faire pas qu'être beau?
i think it might be our best year yet.
