from the earth

went peach and blackberry picking this afternoon with two friends from high school.
we remarked on how wonderful it was to pick living things from trees.
i find so much hope in knowing that trees still bear fruit, and vegetables still grow in the soil.
being so use to buying my produce in the supermarket, it was a reminder of the unique way God set up for us to receive food.


this evening i made a vegetable salad with toasted pita for mom and me.


we enjoyed crunching our way through the brightly colored cucumbers, peppers, radishes, lettuce, tomatoes and scallions that the soil had grown and rain had watered.
how wonderful.
