this is where my sun addled brain goes after six winter free years in california.
no. i do not remember last years snowmageddon, what snow looks like after you drive on it or even really that huge blizzard of '94.
i only remember missing tiny cool snowflakes, eerie cold silence and closed snowy roads. i remember betting my unfinished math homework on a school cancellation. risky business, let me tell ya.
i remember unplanned hours in a day that were filled with hot chocolate and onesie snow suits and wrecked havoc on a three story house.
i remember waking up in the middle of the night to see if my sled tracks from the day before had been covered. betting more homework against the odds of another cancellation. and calculating a three mile hike to the village for starbucks.
thats what i remember about winter. and thats why the east coast, with all its stoic chill, brought me back where i belong.
