The Gang's All Here.

We had a belated birthday celebration for my grandmother a few night's ago. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings made it out on a rainy August evening for some familial festivities.

I thought you'd enjoy a few photos.

I also thought you'd enjoy an informal tour through parts of my grandmother's 1950s era home. My Mom grew up in this house. My Dad had dinners at this table when he was dating my Mom. There used to be a piano against that far left wall. I used to play it. We've opened Christmas presents in this room. And spilled gravy on the rug in Thanksgivings past. And checked hair and make-up in that mirror. And wrestled on that gravy-stained carpet...

Okay, okay. Making a U-Turn on Sentimentality Road. Back to the birthday!

We had cousins home from college this summer! So we lined them all up (with the younger and older guys, too) and made them pose with the birthday girl.

Look at this cousin. Such a character. He's the youngest. What a ham!

Look at these two! They're the middle brothers. And they think The Ham is SO funny! (So do I.)

And here's everyone!
Almost everyone.
We were missing a few key players.
A couple brothers and sisters.
An aunt and uncle or two.
Some grandkids.
There are 19 people in this photo.
NINETEEN!
Help me, Rh...
(I would also like to mention that approximately 26% of the folks in this photo are redheads.
Your random fact for the day.)

Cousin friendships make my heart happy.

Cousin friendships confuse me.

Cousin friendships amuse me.

Birthday celebrations...they're fantastic aren't they? Even if they're belated. Even if the singing is off-key. Even if you eat your body weight in chocolate cake.

Let's do this again soon!
