A Birthday Story.

My friend, Kristina, flew in for a little visit last weekend.

Bad news: she was in town to take a long, tedious, boring grad school exam.

Good news: she was also in town to celebrate her birthday!

Bad news: The exam was on her birthday.

Good news: The exam only lasted two hours!

Bad news: It took two hours to get home.

Good news: We made it home in time for dinner.

Bad news: Someone forgot to make a birthday cake.

Good news: Someone had made Pioneer Woman's Tres Leches Cake the week before.

Bad news: Someone had made Pioneer Woman's Tres Leches Cake the WEEK before.

Good news: The Birthday Girl wasn't hungry for cake after all.

Bad news: Someone still felt the need to serve a slice of Tres Leches Cake.

Good news: The Birthday Girl has a sense of humor.

Bad news: Someone can't sing.

Good news: The Birthday Girl felt loved anyway!
