i was with my roommate jess yesterday in albertsons shopping for groceries.
we passed the produce section and before i could help myself, i had in my possession one very delicious looking candy apple.
these fall treats remind me of crunchy yellow leaves, crisp mornings leaving for school, brown paper bag lunch times and buttery orange pumpkins.
i love them.
but alas, i could not afford them.
right now, they represent a delicacy that cannot be splurged for.
until something in my un-employment changes.
later that afternoon, i shared my frustration with a friend. i complained about my situation and my questions about whether God was even listening.
she heard me.
she left and then called saying she was coming back. she had forgotten something at my house.
as i met her in the driveway, she popped her trunk and started unloading grocery bags into my hands.
would weeping even do this act of love justice?
regardless, i did.
she met me with the hands and feet of christ. as surely as he would have.
he would not have rebuked my unbelief or my attitude. rather he would have provided for me in the most tangible way that i needed.
so that i could do nothing else but be still and overwhelmed in his love.
as i unloaded grocery bag number 2,there at the bottom were three precious candy apples.
he is good to me.
more than i deserve.
