Scope for the Imagination.

This week finds Little Sister traveling over the romantic moors of Scotland during her last spring break as an undergrad. Little Sister has been very good about sending e-mail updates to include all family members in her travels. Yesterday her e-mail read, "we went up to the castle in the evening and ended with a trip to chocolate soup cafe for hot cocoa. i am off to the highlands tomorrow." A castle! A cafe! The Highlands! I imagine her traipsing around the countryside dressed like this:


Perhaps she is even being romanced by a dashing kilt-wearing Scotsman...!


Meanwhile, Little Brother is enjoying his spring break in London town! Yesterday, before enjoying a full English breakfast, he took a minute to update us on his travels. Little Brother climbed Big Ben yesterday and even had an opportunity to view the famous clock from the inside. His group also toured Westminster Abbey, and watched the changing of the guard outside Buckingham Palace. Today finds him climbing the Tower of London, and attending a Cider Festival in London.

I imagine him chumming it up with the likes of Will and Harry (bowler hat and umbrella a necessity, of course). I also imagine him returning Stateside with an entire vocabulary of new words like posh, and cheeky, and cheerio, and bloody hell.


Lastly, our second Little Brother arrived in South Africa yesterday! As part of a race and culture course he took this year, he has the opportunity to travel around cities like Johannesburg and Cape Town with his classmates for the next ten days. Little Brother has been looking forward to this trip for weeks! I'm hoping he'll enjoy the warm weather, and remember to take lots of photos to document all his African adventures... which could possibly--you never know-- include meeting this guy:

Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive—it’s such an interesting world. It wouldn’t be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There’d be no scope for imagination then, would there?
