moonbounce

i just got home from camp.

you heard me.

summer camp.
for special needs kids in virginia. i work there as a counselor.
and today was our second to last full day.
we have been going strong for 4 weeks now and i am well at the breaking point.

but during lunch time today i thought, everyday should be like this; taking potty breaks, snack time, hysterical laughter, mad dashes down the hall as someone screams, "we have a runner!", lunch time with sandwiches in little baggies, field trips to the pool, piggyback rides, ice pops, moonbounces and the playground swirly slide.

i tell myself that someday i'll have to stop bouncing so high on the moonbounce. i figure there must be a day when i will be required to stop, come off it and recognize that i am actually an adult. its only at summer camp that no one cares.

people always tell you that working with special needs kids will change your life.
well, the same is true for me. every year i do this (this is my 4th), i dwell on how blessed i am. and not in the cheesy sense of " i have so much to be thankful for" but in the actual sense of, "thank you God that my limbs work and that i am in control of my mind and i can speak to others when i want to".

ya know.
little stuff like that.

like enjoying a high jump on the moonbounce.

Definitely a post that leaves you thinking. So eloquent! But, I have one question-- what is on your head?? hahahahahahahahaha
