To roaring fires and snow covered hills,
to icicles and slush,
and tiny reindeers.
To Christmas tunes,
to packaged gifts,
to (very tiny) family rifts.
To Desmond Jack
who's always merry,
To Samson and our dead canary.
To Yuletide cheer,
and sugar cookies,
to Bing, and Danny,
and Rosemary Clooney.
To counting your blessings,
instead of sheep.
To feeling so stuffed
you could practically weep.
To visions of sugarplums
and Nutcracker dreams,
to having a white Christmas be possible
(it seems).
To doorbells and sleigh bells
and schnitzel with noodles.
To silver white winters
that melt into springs.
To family- around and
abroad and behind.
To the magic of Christmas
that springs to our minds.
To Dasher and Dancer
to Prancer and Vixen
to Comet and Cupid
to Donner and Blitzen.
To Rudolf, with his nose
shining bright.
To the age-old Star that
shone a great light.
To Mary, and Joseph,
to an innkeeper's heart,
to shepherds who gathered
with good news to impart.
To Christ who was born
to be God here with us,
to the promise of Hope
and a reason to trust.
To a Savior, a Baby,
a Lord, and a King;
to always having a reason to sing!
